PFI Mentor Information
Mentorship Program Goals for each participant:
- establish any academic deficiencies that need to be addressed for them to achieve their academic/life goals
- establish their character goals
Foster the group towards becoming a supportive, positive peer group
Mentor Expectations
- Put together an 8-week plan for the group
- Include topics, meeting schedule, activities/outings, and service project
- Use topics in the list directly or as inspiration for your own
- Time commitment: 90 minutes/week minimum for meetings with group; outings will be longer
- Schedule: weekly from first date of group organization to completion
- Tasks for each week
- Check-in on academic enrichment; participant journals
- Share experience, strength, and hope (mentors)
- Values discussion: connection to daily life
- Group activity or outing
- Keep a journal of what is working, what isn’t, observations, participant progress, etc.
- Check-in: every three weeks, attend mentors meeting with Fr. Kirk to debrief, discuss kids with issues, plan interventions
