About the Powerful Futures Initiative

The fundamental belief of the Moving the World (MTW) Cooperative’s Powerful Futures Initiative (PFI) is that knowledge, competency and passion are essential to young people having powerful futures. This platform will bring together sports, technology, entertainment and media (STEM^∞) in ways that support their interests and future career choices. We will provide expert, innovative and captivating subject matter content in these four areas that is age appropriate and engaging for these young minds. We also see a need for a distance learning platform to teach Artificial Intelligence (AI), 3D visualization, app and game development, and other creative technology applications to young people ages 10 to 18 from low to moderate income backgrounds in communities within the Greater Houston Area, and specifically areas south of Houston.

The PFI Goal

The goal of the PFI is to create a local generation of young people who are committed to using sports, technology, entertainment and media (STEM^∞) to make a difference in our communities while moving the world. We want to provide the best in expert, innovative and captivating subject matter content and local learning, regional training and national revenue generation for communities with channels on this platform. Most of all, we are creating a generation of young people whose lives are transformed to bright and Powerful Futures where they are empowered to lead and Move the World. PFI Mentoring

The Powerful Futures Mentorship Initiative is designed to expose young people to leading difference makers in communities. Our goal is to develop a future generation of Difference Makers. PFI Mentoring is a step in this process. Our model is based on the results of the Aspirational Profile Questionnaire completed by our basketball camp participants.
